As a certified shoe lover – I’ve always struggled with my sneakers when traveling. I have yet to find a pair of sneakers that check all of the boxes for travel. They are usually too bulky or not comfortable enough to wear for a long trip. I need a pair of travel-friendly sneakers that are:

• Packable (take up minimal space in my bag)
• Comfortable for long days of walking
• Stylish and can match multiple outfits
• Easy to clean and won’t smell

The perfect solution… is it too good to be true?

I did it. I found the perfect solution. A shoe brand called SUAVS. I came across this brand on other travel blogs as a travel-friendly sneaker, specifically their Zilker shoe. I personally preferred the style of their newer Classic Sneaker shoe and wanted to know more. No matter how hard I looked though, besides their site, there were no reviews on this shoe. The few reviews I found were on the Zilker and sponsored, so I couldn’t help but feel like they were biased. They probably aren’t but still, I needed a review on the classic sneaker.

According to their site, Suavs are packable, extremely comfortable, machine washable, moisture-wicking, don’t require socks, and don’t need to be broken in. Sounds too good to be true, right?

I’m currently in the market for a pair of sneakers for my upcoming trip to Morocco, so I decided to find out for myself.  I ordered a pair of the Classic Sneakers in the color Butter. I got a size 8 based on the reviews on the site and size recommendations. For reference, I am usually an 8.5/9 and have narrow feet.

First Impressions of the SUAVS Classic Sneaker

When they arrived, I loved them. The style was cute, the shoes were extremely lightweight and easily collapse flat. Making them perfect for throwing in my carry-on. I put them on to walk around my house and really enjoyed how they felt. The size was comfortable, there was light arch support, and I was generally happy with them.

Putting the SUAVS Classic Sneaker to the test. 

It was time to see if they would live up to the hype! I put on my SUAVS without socks for a quick mile-long walk around my neighborhood. Ready to be impressed – I ended up severely disappointed. During the walk I began to feel discomfort in my both of my pinky toes. The toe box was feeling tight. It felt like there was something rough in the shoe rubbing against my foot. By the time I got home, I couldn’t wait to get them off my feet. Both of my pinky toes had been rubbed raw and were red and peeling. 

I couldn’t believe it. Was it me? Maybe I got a size too small, or if I indeed needed to wear socks with these shoes. SUAVS sends tons of follow-up emails after you place an order – so I reached out to see what their recommendations were. 

Impeccable customer service.

Disheartened, I let them know my woes and waited to see what their response would be. They got back to me immediately and honestly – I was shook. Their response was phenomenal. Not only did they offer me an exchange to try a larger size (what seemed to be the culprit of discomfort issues) – I did not need to send the shoes back. Instead, they sent me information about charities I could donate the shoes to, including one that would send me a prepaid label to ship the shoes out to them.

Shortly after they shipped me a new pair and I eagerly awaited their arrival to put them to the test.

The new pair arrived… let’s take them on the road!

I’ve literally put these shoes through everything. And I mean EVERYTHING.

I have used them to climb limestone cliffs in Cupecoy. I walked around 5 miles a day in the desert heat of Marrakesh with my SUAVs. Devon and I both even wore our SUAVs to go ATVing in the Agafay desert.

I think I have a pretty good idea of how well these work as an all-in-one travel shoe by now.

So here are the pros…

The final verdict:

I totally recommend the SUAVS Classic Sneaker for traveling.

But I would also recommend wearing them with socks for maximum comfort. As far as sizing, if you are between sizes – I recommend sizing up. Otherwise, they run true to size.

Both Devon and I experienced some rubbing on our pinky toes but not nearly as extreme as my original pair and only when we did not wear socks with the SUAVS. The good news is that they are truly moisture-wicking and always smelled surprisingly fresh for what we put them through! Since they got dirty easily, we did wash them while we were in Saint Martin, and they took about 24 hours to dry. This can be inconvenient if they are needed the next day – and since they were the only sneakers we brought on the trip – that was the case.
